Men and women often see ‘sexy’ differently.

What men perceive as sexy and what women see as sexy can be quite different.

In a recent shoot my client suggested thigh high stockings and lace for a bedside folio shoot, but I encouraged her to try thigh high socks and an off the shoulder sweater. It was an amazing look that her husband loved, but she didn’t consider it sexy at the time.

Sometimes a male perspective helps.

If I were shopping for a gift for my wife, I’d probably ask for a woman’s advice. When choosing portraits as a gift for a man, you might want a male perspective.

Michael Sasser shared this story:

Me: “Which pictures do you want in your gift album?”
Her: “You pick them out since you are a guy, you will know what he likes more than I will!”

A boudoir shoot is your time to reconnect with your beauty and take ownership of your sexuality, but male perspectives can be really helpful when you’re planning to share the photos with a male partner.

It might be easier to show your sexy side.

Many of my clients say the feel less ‘awkward’ or even ‘judged’ when showing their sexy side in front of the camera with a male photographer. Ultimately you should speak with a few photographers and choose one that makes you feel at ease, and that could be a male.

Choosing a boudoir photographer goes beyond gender.

Most importantly, find a photographer who’s work you love and who makes you feel at ease and accepted. Whoever you choose, your boudoir photography experience should leave you feeling beautiful, empowered, and sexy.
